The family-owned Hótel Lækur is set on an Icelandic horse farm, between the Golden Circle and the south coast. Hella is 10 minutes’ drive away. It offers a sun terrace and a guest lounge. The bright, modern rooms feature wooden floors and private bathrooms. Some include either a terrace or balcony. The surrounding views take in the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. A simple à la carte menu is available in Lækur Hótel’s summer restaurant. Meals during the winter can be ordered in advance. Guests may be lucky enough to experience the Northern Lights during their stay. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is within 25 minutes’ drive, while Skógafoss Waterfall is a further 20 minutes away. Reykjavík is 100 km from Hótel Lækur.

"The hotel is in a good location, but also remote enough to be outside of the main road. The staff were very friendly and we loved playing with the dogs - they loved playing fetch with the snow! Breakfast was plentiful and we appreciated the sauna in cold winter evenings."
"Our only small gripe was that the bathrooms are more like wet rooms, meaning that the shower overflows and floods the whole bathroom. We were unsure whether this was normal or whether our shower drain was blocked and used up our towels to soak up the water (which were promptly replaced in any case)"

"It was a small friendly family run hotel: we were upgraded to a cabin overlooking the river as there was a big group in the main building. The view was lovely and the cabin one of the best we have stayed in. Staff came and alerted us to the Northern Lights display. Excellent breakfast, although limited choice of evening meal."

"Everything was great , especially the location you walk among horses and a beautiful little river , you have spectacular views from the windows . Staff was also very friendly and polite . The restaurant served a nice hot soup as well as a nice breakfast"
