"Lovely hotel, great location with parking and fabulous spa facilities included. It was fantastic value in March and we thoroughly enjoyed everything it had to offer. The spa was excellent and we practically had the whole place to ourselves. It was clean with water and towels available as well as nice shampoo and conditioner included the showers. Gluten free food at breakfast was perfectly communicated and Manuel was fantastic and so lovely. The lovely warm bar area near the main reception is really nice and it feels very warm and cosy each time you return. For an off season spa break in such a prime location it really was very good overall and we would return. Our room was quiet and we had a very good relaxing stay"

"The main thing that would put me off staying again is simple for them to resolve- after booking back in August via booking.com for a March stay, I received over THIRTY messages through booking.com from the property that then also went through to my emails. Deals, upgrades, utter irrelevant rubbish. If they don’t stop this, I don’t think I’d book again as it drove me mad’ Somethings were a little worse for wear. There was a tired feel to parts of the hotel including the ladies changing rooms (those hairdryers must be decades old!!) and our bathroom in our room. There was no shampoo or conditioner included in our room, only shower gel and body lotion which felt a little random. Nice products though and we could use the shampoo and conditioner included the spa showers! Overall it remained very good value for money despite this so I would recommend"

"The room was spacious and the temperature was perfect. It wasn't too hot or too cold. The food was delicious, ate tea and Breakfast, absolutely no complaints. The breakfast team were happy enough to swap my Black Pudding for additional Hash Browns so that was fantastic!"

"Lovely 2 night stay at the Hillsdale. Good coms before our trip regarding points of interest and good quality local restaurants. A very warm welcome on arrival from Steve with all the information needed. There is private parking approx 250m from the guesthouse which is vital in such a busy tourist area. The room was clean, comfortable, well decorated and furnished. Excellent breakfast cooked to order from a varied menu. All in all a very good stay and we would recommend without hesitation"

"Fabulous location central for Ambleside . Car parking available outside property and overspill a short walk away if no spaces left. Fresh milk available for complimentary hot drinks and a lovely slice of local gingerbread such a welcome touch. Staff lovely , friendly and helpful"
